The Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) Annual Meeting and Convention is just a few short weeks away! The Mountain West Young Credit Union Professionals Committee has been working for the past several months to develop content to educate and empower the next generation of Credit Union Leaders.

The conference will kick off on Tuesday, April 23rd with the Young Professionals Track. Participants will have the opportunity to work through a full strategic planning session with renowned facilitator Dr. Brandi Stankovic! They will learn about the strategic planning and decision-making process, how the Mission, Vision and Value statements are developed and they will develop objectives for mock credit unions in the areas of Financial Performance, Technology, Member Outreach and Leadership. Through this process participants will gain hands-on skills and experience in all areas of credit union operations, including the importance of teamwork.

On Wednesday, Young Professionals will volunteer for the Mountain West Credit Union Foundation Annual Golf Tournament, getting the chance to meet and network with credit union professionals from across our region. In the opening keynote they will learn how to Close the Gap Between Average and Excellence from Dr. Samuel Jones.

Thursday will start with the importance of political advocacy and action and hear from CUNA CEO, Jim Nussle! Participants will then engage in a full day of general and breakout sessions to learn about the current and future development of the Credit Union Movement.

Those YP’s wanting to practice their interview skills will have the opportunity to complete a mock interview, getting them ready to move up into that next role.

Friday, YP’s will join the Global Women’s Leadership Network Breakfast. They will hear from Herb Wegner Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Susan Mitchell and gain a better understanding about the challenges women face in business and leadership.

This will be will a fast-paced 4 days of education, networking and development for Young Professionals from Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming. Learn more about content, agenda and speakers here.

 

Young Professionals is defined loosely as anyone aged 40 and under, but we don’t card.
